ABELARDO LAFUENTE
· RESEARCH PROJECT ·
A. Lafuente Research Project was born to publicize the discoveries made about the Spanish architecture imprint in China (but also in the Philippines, USA, and Mexico) designed by Abelardo Lafuente García-Rojo (Madrid 1871- Shanghai 1931) at the beginning of the XX century.
Our mission
To make known the discoveries made from 2009 onwards by Alvaro Leonardo (Spanish Ph.D. architect (2019) who discovered Abelardo's forgotten figure for Shanghai´s foreign architecture episode) to draw the cultural ties closer between Spain and China.

His figure and unique works have gone unnoticed in the history of his native country, Spain, but also in the four countries where he left his imprint in the form of architectural hidden gems: China, the USA, the Philippines, and Mexico.
